][ Crux ][ Roleplay Log I - The First Encounter

((Bear in mind, this is unedited.))

[2008/08/29 20:57] Sentrosi Broek can feel the presence enter the confines of the Tellis Temple, an aura she has sensed fro some time now. However, this individual seem to have more about him than what is presented from a distance. Energies swirl about the uninvited visitor, keen like that of the old one that use to work tha black smith, but she can tell this young one is still rough around the edges his

[2008/08/29 21:06] Sentrosi Broek lips slightly part whilehis tongue wets with a thik coat," Lady of Tellis, I beg your forgiveness for intruding upon your land. I seek a breif counsel with you to discuss matters of passage. Please answer my request." The young male's voice carries out. Oddly he never spoke above a that of a normal tone, yet the sound seems to have been lifted and carried further beyond that in shich It should have reached with out raising his voice.

[2008/08/29 21:09] Sentrosi Broek shifts his weight from one leg to the other beofre looking up, as she predicted, he is a but unnerved, but stay well calm regardless of that he was feeling. Slowly he turns towards the exit, intented on going to check another place.

[2008/08/29 21:09] Terry Toland , with an irritated roll of her shoulders, harshly clears her throat; the sound rumbles off the ground, traveling toward the male's fine ears. Eerily, the earth beneath his feet seems to shift, churning slowly with the gutteral exasperation.

[2008/08/29 21:11] Sentrosi Broek turns to the side of the temple once he takes a step outside, purhaps she would be uptop where master had told him she would sometimes lay to view the stars.

[2008/08/29 21:15] Terry Toland abruptly sneezes, the force almost sending her toppling over her seat. She grumbles something under her breath before heaving a long, weighted sigh; a moment later, all the trees on the skelly groan and lean toward the south, the ground below appearing to roll in that direction underneath.

[2008/08/29 21:18] Sentrosi Broek pauses as he pushes past the vine that hide the throne like pedistal up top the temple. There he grunts with disapointmet at finding nothing but a cushion. Taking a moment to sigh as his eyes skim about the land, pausing at what looks to be a cave. He is not exactly sure, but pretty set that this be the place to get the items needed. Suddenly his muscles tence and his fists close rapidly, putting tention on the spring loaded device on each forearm, a natrual reachion of self defence. Standing in the upper temple the mae pauses as he traces the movement of the land with his eyes. Finally resting his focus on the small hovel in the near distance to the south.
[2008/08/29 21:21] You shout: / With the boy finally realizing the correct direction, the flora returns to a natural rest, the groaning echoing throughout the isle once more as each tree rights itself and the earth stops rumbling. Clearly, whoever the Lady is has great skill, and it would be wise he take heed before venturing anywhere protected.
[2008/08/29 21:24] Sentrosi Broek steps to the edge of the temple's outerwalls and begins to slide the steap desent, landing softly below near the small patch of mushrooms. Standing up straight and pulling on the clothes ho his shoulders to once again make himself presentable before moving towards the hovel.

[2008/08/29 21:25] Sentrosi Broek pauses at the entrance, unsure of how to announce himself.
[2008/08/29 21:27] Terry Toland continues scratching down on the paper, as if unaware of his presence at all. Or simply not caring. The air about them is old and musty, death literally lingering right out on the doorstep of this hut.

[2008/08/29 21:31] Sentrosi Broek taks a breath as he finally musters the courage to speak. His master has told him many thing about this woman, but never the nessesities on how to approach her,"Excuse me, Lady of Tellsis Skerry. May I seek counsul with you for a moment? I have a request to make." the elven male asks with the unsure it that was proper to greet her in such a manner.
[2008/08/29 21:33] Terry Toland pauses in her writing, and the atmosphere seems to grow deathly quiet. A gruelling five minutes pass, aging like an eternity, before she finally acknowledges him with a cough and continues writing.
[2008/08/29 21:35] Sentrosi Broek unsure as if the cough is ment to be an invite or a demand to leave, so he pause for a moment before stepping up and pushing the leather door cover and moving thru the portal.

[2008/08/29 21:36] Terry Toland tilts her shaggy black mane up, apparently looking at him through her mess of bangs, before stretching out a long, muddied arm toward the other seat, gesturing for him to sit. Retracting the limb, she once more goes back to writing... Though, to him, it looks like only one line has been written at all: "Beyond here lies mysteries..."
[2008/08/29 21:42] Sentrosi Broek riases an eye brow beofre moving around to take a seat opposite to the female. Once sitting the male reaches up to pull down the mask, and then removes the head band and places on a clip at the side of his belt,"Thank you for seeing me, Keeper of Tellis. I have come to request safe passage to your mine for supplies." he calmly introduces the meaning for the visit.
[2008/08/29 21:46] Terry Toland places the pen down and leans back a bit; a ragged shroud covers most of her face, leaving one to wonder if she is a dame or hag. Yet, whether she be old or young, she carries a set of piercing emerald eyes, which steadily move up from the table to his tan visage. Without a word, she tilts her head to one side and raises an eyebrow questioningly, indirectly inquiring why *he* was here for the supplies.

[2008/08/29 22:03] Sentrosi Broek takes the hint of question, with a soft sigh the elven man speaks her answer,"I am Sentrosi, apprentice and successor and son to Elenode. My father has passed..."
[2008/08/29 22:04] Terry Toland 's other eyebrow raises, and once more, she leans back. The eyes seem to question, "Really now...?"
[2008/08/29 22:26] Sentrosi Broek nods as he waits paciently, suddenly the skelly dweller picks up what she should have felt before. The jewels from Sentrosi's arm bands glint in the dull light of the hovel and a softly radiating pulse of Exuros' energies eminate from the one sitng before her. The connection is not as strong as it was in Elenode, but it is there none the less.

[2008/08/29 22:27] Terry Toland wrinkles her nose, the shredded cloth ruffling a bit before she rolls a wrist toward him, gesturing for him to go on and state his case.

[2008/08/29 22:32] Sentrosi Broek takes breath before continueing,"I require more of the sacred crystals and metals that are found in the Skeely cave. I must maintane my master's goal to keep the balance in the world flows of energy. If the ledgenary artifacts are not crafted then the balance may tip and the planet may begin to decay from the imbalance, but I am sure you already knew about this. I offer simply that, my word to maintane balance...I will also pledge you a promise of your choice, for I do not know you well enough yet to give you something of value other than that you request directly."

[2008/08/29 22:38] Terry Toland slowly shakes her head and leans forward, beginning to write aimlessly away again; underneath the cloth, a rich, earthy voice states firmly, "To keep balance by force... perhaps, keeping other matters by force is logical here, but balance... You have a lot yet to learn, and your teacher has already passed..." Her pen stops for a moment, and she inquiries, "Will you be needing a grave...?"

[2008/08/29 22:42] Sentrosi Broek shakes his head,"Nay, but thank you for the offer. Father was consumed by the titan, cremated by the very fires he forged his path with. An honorable passing."

[2008/08/29 22:45] Terry Toland snorts harshly, clearly disapproving, but makes no other remark about the passing. REturning the old quill to the parch, she continues, "Elenode was a First Generation, as you may well know... it was out of this respect I allowed him passage..."

[2008/08/29 22:48] Sentrosi Broek ,"Yes I do, however, I come here now to continue his work. Please, continue respecting him and allow me passage as well."

[2008/08/29 22:51] Terry Toland shakes her head once more, answering, "His time has passed, and only his status mattered to me, not whatever mission that had befallen him... or befalls you... In fact, it may befit me and the powers that rest here to withhold our riches..."

[2008/08/29 22:57] Sentrosi Broek grits his teeth,"Status? That is all that seemed to matter to you? Then tell me lady of Tellis, Would you refuse one of the first's dieing request then? Would you deny him satisfaction in death knowing that his mission be continued? Name your price and I will match, you have my word, but do not take my masters last wish from him, it would be dispicable for one honored as much as he did you to suddenly betray him when he is unable to respond to the slap across his honor."

[2008/08/29 22:59] Terry Toland calmly responds with a question: "Do you know how old I am, boy...?"

[2008/08/29 23:01] Sentrosi Broek closes his eyes as he stands,"Very well, I know you like your solitude and know when I am getting now where. I will be back, enjoy the quite as you desire. Until next we meet..." he finishes as he reaches down to the head band and mask gien to him by Elenode. bring it to his head as he prepares to venture out.

[2008/08/29 23:03] Terry Toland states firmly, "I am over 6000 years old... Bear that in mind when you consider how many deaths and 'last wishes' I have had at my door... Particularly if you do not wish to be one of them..."

[2008/08/29 23:10] Sentrosi Broek smiles benieth the mask as he turns to the door,"How many of those where of the first? How many of the first have you even met in your life time? Then to deny him after he was respectable to left you to your own for so many years and asked for nothing more. Lady of Tellis, I may be young compaired to you and may have much to learn still...but one thing I was told to always remeber and honor was to respect and honor my elders. Regardless of the situation...Good day to you, I do not hold this against you. Just disapointed in the hopes I had from stories I heard, fair well." he finishes before fassening the mask completely and begining to walk out only to pause at the door as he regains his barrings as to where he is.

[2008/08/29 23:12] Terry Toland snorts without trying to hide her utterance, "Odd, coming from one not respecting these old bones... Oh well..."

[2008/08/29 23:13] You: / The ground beneath him begins to rumble and, before he can make even sudden movements, begins to carry him away toward the west./

[2008/08/29 23:13] Sentrosi Broek smirks as his ears pick up her words but does not respond due to his respect to her.

{OoC} Taking Care of Business - LotD and Sim Update

You get up every morning
From your alarm clock's warnin',
Take the 8:15 into the city.
There's a whistle up above
And people pushin', people shovin'
And the girls who try to look pretty

And if your train's on time
You can get to work by nine
And start your slaving job to get your pay.
If you ever get annoyed,
Look at me I'm self-employed-
I love to work at nothing all day

And I'll be...

Takin' care of business-
Every day
Takin' care of business-
Every way
I've been takin' care of business-
It's all mine
Takin' care of business
And workin' overtime-
Work out!

It's hard to believe that the above picture used to be just a hand drawing, but after man-handling Terragen, my partner was able to take my artistic vision, pack it into a RAW file, and have it flood out into 3D form. I have since been 'working' later hours than I should setting the area up to be a place I feel like I can play or hang out it, but can take pictures in. Seeing the sunrise in SL on that first night over on the far east side was truly magical, and I hope the rest of the sim will be.

Of course, I've had my moments. In RL, my health is a little nutters, and that's made me cranky. I'm so glad Sentrosi is patient with me. In SL, we had one night that was completed farked- I absolutely cannot stand the Ruth look. At least not with that system hair. Thankfully, I was able to build and wear something more decent while I walked around with my partner and did some land work and discussion. Nothing, not even LL's screw-ups, can stop us! XD

Equine Scene: Hoof It! Centaur Av

For better or worse, I decided to treat myself after vacation. Hopefully, it will get all the major personal spending out of my system... or at least get me to focus more on building and then selling. Anyways, despite my boyfriend's popular belief, I have had this on my wish list for a while; being a fantasy shape-shifter, how could I not?

Say it with me: I'm a pret-tee poh-ney! XD Well, centuar-unicorn thing, anyways. I always have to twist things up a bit.

This is the Female - Grey version. It also comes in Dapple Grey, Appaloosa, Chestnut, Bay, and Black, as well as a male version. And yes, I plan on torturing my man. There is also a saddle out right now if you want to take a friend trail-blazing.

I've had a thing for horses since I was little; even today, I'm caught with glee when I see horses in RL, so I've been utterly giddy with my new avatar. In addition to the sculpted body, it comes with an avatar animator that you can mix with a ZHAO animator so your top half can be less awkward (just be sure to take out any walks and such). There are also hoofprint trail, clopping-sounds, dust cloud, and random sound options. The clopping sound, when on, actually changes when you run to a more appropriate gallop sound.

For the picky ponies out there, yes, there could be improvements. The most obvious is the tail, which only has a few strands of flexi. Having something more uniform would definitely be awesome; I think, in order to get that arched/drooping look, the creator might start off with the basic, non-flex prim and then add a flexi continuation or extension. This is what I've seen some of my favorite hair designers move toward. A more subtle detail that could use touch up are the 'socks' on the forefeet. Even with the added shading, the darker tones don't match up.

However, even with these areas of improvement, I found this purchase well worth it and definitely refreshing. This is definitely sculpties put to good use! If given the opportunity, I will model with it, especially if my focus is on a top or hair, as it looks wonderful from any angle (unlike some centaur avs I've seen, which look really weird form the front). For other SL'ers looking to be the talk of the farm, I highly recommend it!

The Medieval Mini: PixelDolls Matilin Dress {OoC}

I picked up a dress I thought noteworthy of review, so I'm doing one. Hopefully, I'll do more in the future.
This is the Matilin Dress in Brown from PixelDolls, picked up for 150L. (Well, I had a store card, but who's counting?) I love the diversity this adds to my wardrobe for such a small price: how many medieval or renissance-esque mini-dresses are really out there? Even the other dresses that were part of the 'pirate pixels' release were more modest length and didn't have a very wide opening to expose some well-toned wench thigh. In addition to brown, it also comes in green, violet and burgundy if you are looking for something with more bright tones. In any case, you can easily go from roleplaying to the club or other energy-pumped social event. Of course, this is provided you're roleplaying in a place like Realms of Aledar (some RP places are super strict and it's like being in a Catholic uniform school) and the next place isn't a long-skirt formal. Though the detailing in this outfit can help you get into some luxury, we can't provide a money-back guarantee. Minor details an' all.

I had to do some minor editing of the skirt, as my boo-tay is a bit on the bigger side. However, it was really small and easy, rather than taking an hour or so. I found that the bottom parts of the sleeves needed a little adjusting, too, but again, I'm shaped on the muscular end, so I might be the exception. If you're new to editing/adjusting, always be sure to copy your object parts before plunging forward. Same with the clothing pieces, although they typically don't need any changes.
Finally, for those that are curious, I'm wearing the Lassitude & Ennui - Signature sandals in black & gold, which are completely free. I love them because they are elegant and casual at once, providing an option for just about any outfit I have. While it's nice to be able to run around barefoot in a medieval/fantasy RP, sometimes a girl wants shoes! Especially with this mini: no shoes left my legs looking a little too bare, in my own view. These sandals also come with a silver accent and in white and brown straps.

Till the next post! <3

My RP Limits {OoC}

I'm pretty easy-going, and will roleplay most anything. I do prefer to have sexually explicit scenes with people I know well, and I am strongly opposed to actions involving excrement beyond the proper use of toiletries.

Sometimes I have time limitations, and I will have to either put a break on the scene or FtB. Real life comes before the game.

I enjoy mind-games, soap-opera drama, and general silliness. Again, I'm fairly relaxed and open to new ideas. Just respect me OoC.

Blog Tags and RP Info {OoC}

{IC} means it is In Character information, as in, something truthful about my roleplay. Be careful, though, as using some information could be considered metagaming. Consider how your character may have come across the info and if they would honestly remember it or even care to recall it.

{OoC} means Out of Character. This information does not actively pertain to the roleplay environment, and the information should not be used in game unless otherwise specified. Sometimes, it will be completely random.

RP is shorthand for roleplay. Some people liken it to Dungeons and Dragons... but not everyone knows what D&D is or have a contorted idea. The best way to describe it is improve theater, with actors in a grand play with an imaginary stage. The characters are IC while the players are OoC.

Option of Response (OoR) is roleplaying in such a way that it gives the other player a chance to decide how they are going to react, rather than 'deciding' for them. A great example is in a fight scene: a.) Player 1 throws a punch at Player 2's face, or b.) Player 1 punches Player 2 in the face. Case A allows for Player 2 to dodge or to be punched, while Case B does not. This is a difficult skill to learn, but very worthwhile.

Metagaming is the act of taking OoC information and using it IC or using IC information inappropriately. Think about when you take tests in school- you (usually) cannot bring the text book in and copy down answers from it (OoC), and you cannot look over someone else's shoulder during the test for the answers (IC in appropriately).

Godmoding (also misspelled godmodding) is the act of being a.) unreasonably powerful and/or invulnerable, or b.) manipulating others' characters inappropriately. Very much the "Heads, I win; tails, you loose" scenario. In the first situation, when a character has little to no weakness, or those weaknesses are very obscure, it leads for the character to be difficult to fully interact with, as they're almost always 'on top'. In the second, this is where the Option of Response is either unobserved or abused in an extreme sense. Often, the godmoder will never allow for the OoR and perform such actions that permanently change the other character, mostly with physical characteristics but sometimes the others' RP abilities, background, or future play. On the other hand, they may always use the OoR to their advantage, constantly dodging or otherwise not feeling a consequence. (For those curious about the misspelling, my friend says, "'godmoding' refers to "god mode" and shouldn't be "godmodding", which implies that god is modifiable.")

FtB or Fade to Black is the act of "fading" a scene due to some sort of limitation on one or both roleplaying parties. It's like a curtain coming down in between acts. It is not ending the scene or eliminating the consequences. Sometimes in plays, before the curtain goes back up, a narrator will announce what happened in between acts; the characters are affected by this information as they continue. In roleplay, when an FtB occurs, the players do not act out what happens, but they do discuss what does happen before carrying on. All characters involved are affected by what happened, despite it not being played out.

RP Limits are limitations decided by each player on what they are willing or not willing to act-out in roleplay. Consider on most driver's licenses, a person can designate whether or not they are willing to be organ donors. Players must use these reasonably, for excessive RP limits make a character difficult to play with and will lead to the player and character being alienated.

The Fae-Woman Tale {IC}

Some time ago – the exact date lost alongside extra buttons and that extra eye of newt – two of kind met in passion’s embrace. A púca, fond of dancing upon a river shore, flirted with an observing nixie; as the sun and moon changed hands, the flirting became more daring, till they fell into the ivory lilies nearby. When the petals had changed from pure white to a cheery, lustful yellow, the two parted ways. If the female shapeshifter had known she would be left with more than an afterglow, she might have enticed the fellow to stay much longer- after three seasons, the golden lilies were stained pink with blood, and the gurgle of a newborn was mixed with the burble of the water flow.

Now, nixies are not meant to be mothers- they lure humans into their local waters, if only to tease and harass… or to drown them. Confused and naïve, the fae woman abandoned her babe at a nearby barrow. The guardian spriggans, perplexed at first (normally, they steal infants, not receive them on their doorsteps), scratched their heads and shrugged their shoulders before taking the little one into their care. Due to her magical affinity, the child proved more than entertainment and became quite useful in protecting the little clan’s buried treasure, as well as in warding off any snooping mortals.

As the child aged, however, and grew into a young adult, she found herself not quite fitting in with her adoptive family. Though she cared for them, and they for her, the girl’s differing complexion and form set her apart (especially when she grew so tall that she began to bump her head on the barrow ceiling). The typically disgruntled spriggans wiped tears for their eyes and waved off their fae-daughter as she struck out into the woods and countryside to find a new home.

Now, she was self-conscious about her appearance, and dressed in a dark-brown cloak to hide her body. When she happened upon a human village, this became threefold- she wrapped herself in cloth, wearing gloves, scarves and cowls to cover herself. No one is quite sure what she actually looked like, beyond her shrouded trimmings, and no one within that village seemed too interested in the stranger to find out. She settled herself on the outskirts of town and set up an apothecary.

The cloaked woman, despite her strangeness, was received admirably when it was discovered her herbs and potions healed the ill and mended the wounded well. As with many maidens, she developed a fondness for a local youth. After watching dreamily from a distance, she sent him a small package containing a letter and blessed charm.

She never expected him to be so cruel.

The youth never responded to her, and in fact, seemed to preoccupy himself with the company of other village girls from thereafter. One day, while passing through the town, she overheard laughter… and the butt of the joke was her. Brimming with pain and anger, she fled the area, dropping ingredients in her wake while the merciless guffaw followed after her.

Matters worsened for her when the youth abruptly became ill. Suspicion grew as his condition worsened and other young folk were confined to their beds. In a classic act, the young villagers that were not bedridden soon claimed that it was the “witch” that had cursed them, citing the “hexing items” left at the scene of the first crime. Fueled with their initial distaste for the poor outcast, they incited the community and finally led a mob to her hut.

Mother Nature played a role that day- rather than be dragged to the stake and burned or simply run away and hide, the fae-woman decided that if the town thought she was a witch, she certainly did not want to disappoint them. A malicious sparkle in her eye, she concocted a volatile brew; when the torches and pitchforks drew near her dwelling, she picked up the small cauldron and walked out upon her doorstep. As the leader began to decry her for her foul doings, she simply smiled and tipped the pot, a gruesome, coal-colored oil slipping out and pouring down toward the crowd.

The details of the event stop there, with the only other “fact” being that screams could be heard echoing across the night. Those that survived were toward the back and ran back to town as fast as they could. The morning after, the area was covered in a hardened, stemming substance – no bodies, no hut, no woman.

It is rumored that the fae-woman now wanders from town to town, appearing around the time of plagues and epidemics to cure them (for a price) before disappearing. She carries an unsettling air and disdain for others, especially those seen as prominent community members. Yet, there is not one defining physical appearance or name that can be ascribed to her- with each tale, it is different.

Of course, this is just another fairy tale, as well.
